The Bay of Biscay with the Farr 65 (Part 1)

The 1100 mile journey on the Farr 65 to the Bay of Biscay was a daunting prospect, particularly as we were shorthanded for the trip. We planned two watches of three, with 6 hrs on/off during the day and 4hrs on/off at night. Averaging 10 Knots, and running full days, we could really eat up the miles.

Our journey would take us past the Needles, down towards the Channel Island of Alderney and then on to the Chenal Du Four. As luck would have it the other watch saw action here both on the way down and back again and i was asleep.

The Raz de Seine was mine though, as I guided us through this notorious stretch of sea.

Once past, we headed for Concarneau, down pas Brest, into the Bay of Biscay and some beautiful sun and great wind.
