Ever wanted to sail but weren't sure how?

If I recall how I got into sailing, it was a blustery day in the Scilly Isles. An enterprising local had built himself an oversize Essex Smack and took people sailing in between the islands there. Getting to the Scilly Isles, as most sailors know is quite tricky, but once there, the waters are shallower and somewhat sheltered. Tales abound of wrecks, with the islanders profiting from the salvage of Nike trainers or Levis, depending on the wrecked cargo. Wrecks are few and far between near Mersea Island, but the Island boasts a rich history of smuggling that some claim was the birthplace of modern yacht racing, as the demand for fast sailing ships, to outrun the officials no doubt, led to dredge races and onwards.

These days, if you are keen to sail but don’t know where to start, there are many clubs that can help you along the way.

We at seaskipr.com offer you a way to try out the experience and ignite your passion for sailing. We look forward to seeing you soon.
